This picture is so beautiful. You can really see the determination in Fingolfin's eyes (he's hot, btw
). That's Galadriel down to the right, isn't it? I think Jenny mentioned it.
I think Anke's Faramir has just met his match in the hottness category.
Ok, superficialness (I think that's a word...) aside... my gosh he's hot... Sorry! Sorry! Get your mind in serious mode, Lady Ro.
Ok, superificalness aside once more. I'm not altogether fond of the sky. Seriously. That's the only thing I can really nitpick about this one right now.
I just now realized that those aren't windows in the mountains, they're part of the banner. Wow, my mind is elsewhere today.
I'm going to show my Silmarillion ignorance here and probably make a fool of myself, but is that Galadriel in the bottom right, or a random elf lady?
It's a beautiful picture!
The elves are drawn well, especially Fingolfin. He is vey cute, the wind blows his hair, that's wonderfully drawn.
I love it, I really do!
Another wonderful piece by Jenny.
Fingolfin is quite appropriately intense. Beautiful as usual.
That makes me want to know the story behind all this... but I just know it's gonna be depressing. There are so many depressing things in the Silmarillion... *sighs*
Absolutely beautiful. Wonderful portrayal of what an Elf would look like - captures them very, very well.
~Iluvien~
I live the way you've done the characters. Very believable faces, well done.
I love most everything. If I looked at it for a year, I could probably find something a little bit wrong, but I just can't! ~Fingolfin's HOT!~
absolutely amazing!
This is really cool! I love the determination on his face, you really express it in a very detailed way! MOre, more, more! ......uhhh...please, that it....
wow!! Oh my!!! that is so cool it makes me happy, WoW very nice!!! you should do more that was so good!!
You have an excellent use of light effects and a close attention to detail. Such a good eye and wonderful composition. Your style is excellent and your portrayal of emotion and facial expression is spot on; a very gifted artist. Keep up the goodwork and post more!!!!!!

................haha Feanor, FINGOLFIN is comming to get yoooou! ![]()
(and he is indeed hot!)
This is great,.. the colour, the movement,.. the detail,... the SHEER HOTNESS OF FINGOLFIN!!!
Its all perfect!!
Great work![]()

This is althrough beautiful, I think I've never seen Fingolin painted by an artist and here he ís ineed hot!
I think that this scene or part from Silmarillion is very difficult to paint or draw, since there is so much emotions and greatness involved. I haven't seen many paintings of it but this is truly wonderful!
A great piece of art. The elves look wild and beautiful, and also just as they belong to an earlier age than the one of LOTR - which is what it should be, I feel.
I think, in my opinion that all the "elves" look all the same, in a way, besides the change of hair or colour particularily. I think they dont have any unique(different) faces, the first word I thought of when I first looked at it was "Barbie"..for example the blonds look very alike.
But I think the picture is really good, no doubt
Wow! this is incredible - and I really love all the Sil pictures. They are so much better than things just copied from movie stills, even when they are well drawn. And the Silmarillion is one of my favorite books.
~Rana
I enjoyed this - most artists prefer to draw Fingolfin's combat with Morgoth.
I'm wondering why you've drawn him with dark hair when he was famous for his golden hair?
Good work!
i think this is wonderful!! i just wanted to tell you that the noldor usually, well, pretty much always, had dark hair.
other than that, i think this is an excellent piece of work!
umm, I didn't think he had golden hair, did he Eldraion? I thought that was just the House of Finarfin.
Anyway, I really like the image
Is the female in the background supposed to be Galadriel? She was one of the leaders of the march, after all
This is an awesome painting...its really good, keep up the great work!
*Sunny*
An amazing piece of art, and a great portrayal of the arrival of Fingolfin and the bulk of the Noldor in Middle-Earth (for thsoe who haven't read Sil). This story isn't as depressing -- the Noldor have just made it to Middle-Earth after crossing the extremely perilous Grinding Ice.
I definitely give this a five.
Eldarion, how can you praise the painting so and then give the painting a 3? Fingolfin was not famous for golden hair -- Finarfin was. Finarfin inherited Indis's golden hair while Fingolfin did not.
Also, the female elf on the right is almost certainly Galadriel, as Galadriel and Aredhel were the only Noldorin princesses, and Aredhel had black hair.
I like Finrod and Galadriel in here too
Wonderful portrayal.
And about the hair, "pretty much always" had dark hair is accurate, but . . . so is the picture. I only see two that are definitely blonde, and a whole bunch of shadowy people, a few may have blonde, but its still mostly dark, in varying shades of dark.
So great job!!
Jenny said so herself.
the same as my main coment!
Very good<img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif"border=0>
of course Fingolfin was blonde...all the children of Indis were blonde except Aredhel! Also Howe and Nasmith made him blonde...shouldn't they know? <img src="http://www.tolkienonline.com/mb/i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif"border=0>
Hey, I got this.. idea that I might have seen some of your art before? Didn't you draw the Drow Twins? -smiles softly- I'm truly amazed. Your art is lovely.
This picture is O.O! I love the way you make the faces, and I just love the way you make it.
Melethil: Yes, you obviously saw my Elfwood gallery ![]()
About the hair: Why do Tolkien fans always get stuck in squabbles over hair colour??? For the record, I based all the hair colours on Tolkien's descriptions, many of them fromt he History of Middle-earth. Fingolfin and all his children were darhk-haired, Finarfin was the only child of Indis who inherited her blonde hair, and so did his children.
Jenny
Hair Colour is a vitally important issue! It's nearly as important as whether or not Balrogs have wings!![]()

(I hold quite seriously to the "dark haired legolas" theory myself)
I really loved this piece! I loved the Sil and I enjoy looking at works of art inspired by it (my aunt even gave me that Luthien picture that had a link posted to it on this site a long time ago). Jenny really created the whole company exactly as I imagined them while I was reading the book. One thing, I really liked how she didn't draw galadriel exactly as she lokked like in the movie. I really like seeing different people's perspectives on things, especially if they are different from the norm. Again, wonderful work!
Just too beautiful for words! It some how make me shivers... don't ask. anyway I am giving this picture a 5!
This has got to be your very best!!!!
LOVE Fingolfin! And Finrod and Galadriel look great as well. Amazing pic, you are very talented. Now paint MORE for us!
Jenny, I've gushed over all your stuff elsewhere (tons), but holy frell is Fingolfin a hottie. I just can't get over it. :-p~~~~~~~
I need to commission something. Zounds.
I love all your work that I've seen so far, both the style, composition and subject matter. I think It's cool that you choose obscure subject matter. Yes, I think the Silmarillion could be defined as that, compared to LOTR.
anyhow, you rock.
thats all ![]()
you go girl. ha, sorry. couldn't help myself.
Very nice artwork. I've seen your other works here and they are also great. Are they published in any books? If not, they should be. I'll buy it.
I think all Tolkien fans should read "The Silmarillion". That way, there won't be any issues about "hair".
By the way Jenny, would you paint by request?....J/K
An original take on the arrival of the Noldor in Middle Earth. They all look triumphant. (Yes, I admit, Fingolfin looks hott, but elves are supposed to be fair, are they not?)
Your skill of capturing the mood and the tone of a scene is amazing! Every detail down to the clouds in the sky reflect the emotion in this picture.
Well done again!
Idril Chrystal Miriel
I love the resolute feeling one gets from the characters as they advance, and I think that the deep perspective is especially well done.
Finglofin fits the bill perfectly - that warrior look in his eyes...AWESOME
Oh My.... I just Love Jenny's work.. Amazing..
*in awe*
Give me a J-E-N-N-Y!! What does that spell? SWEETNESS. Jenny surpasses many professional artists. Like I've said, it reminds me so much of Japan-like drawings. Fingolfin looks frickin sexy. Good stuff, good stuff.
is she reading my mind??
WOW!

Wow, this is so pretty! The colors and the expressions make it look so real! Job well done! ![]()

Amazing. I can't believe its possible!!!
I love "The Silmarillion" very much and feel that it is much under represented in art. This piece shows the Eldar with great vigour and dynamism yet without sacrificing their grace. The range of facial shapes and expressions is excellent. The fluidity of the draping of the clothing is very well done, especially Fingolfin's cloak. That, to me, is always as important and interesting as the depiction of the characters. (I remember being entranced 30 years ago in the Louvre by the wonderful detail of the robes in David's "Coronation of Napoleon".)
beautiful
I like the contrast and the colours! And their faces have great emotion!

Amazing!
Amazing. Simply Amazing.
I love the eyes
Will someone please explain to me what trolling is?
And i have a question for Lady Coralie, meaning no disrespect, of course: How come the stuff that is not positive is sensored? I mean, is it not the point of the comments section to give constructive critisism? And if giving someone a bad score is not allowed, then why are we allowed the rate anything but a 4 or a 5? It simply does not seem... fair (?) to me.
I love this picture. It is probably the best on the site.

Woohoo!!! I actually know what this is from!!! (As I'm getting farther in the Sil...
)
Wonderful job! I love his expression- he looks exactly as someone should who has been put through what he was put through by Fëanor... I like it.
