At first it was reminiscent of a bit of a Native American-like saga, but on thinking further, thought of it as more a Eastern European shamanic scene, because the women are Caucasian. Goes to the very core of Tolkien's world, the same difficult-to-describe feelings I got from reading the Silmarillion. Ethereal, yet, down to earth. I looked at this piece a long time. Some of Alan Lee's paintings did that, too. I simply got lost in them.

This picture is wonderful! I do wish that I could get my pictures to look that good. You have a magnificent use of light and color, and some very good detail too.
Although I myself would probably have tried to make them more majestic, I rather like your portrayal, it makes them seem more . . . earthy I suppose. And Nienna and Yavanna were really close to the earth . . . and things that grow, which I think makes your portayal very appropriate.
And the trees . . . wow! they look almost as though they could continue growing right out of the painting! I love it!!!
And you should not mark someone down because they did not imagine it the same way you did!! That's idiotic, you can't grade someone's imagination! You have the right to dislike it, but that is no reason to rate it low! And who's to say that Nienna and Yavanna did not look American Indian! Tolkien is really the only person who could say that, and he's not here! You can go make your own picture, and welcome, but don't insult other's pictures because you imagined things differently!

I'm not going to rate this one because a 4 wouldn't do it justice, but I can't give it a 5, for two reasons.
1) Although it is exquisite, it isn't exactly how I imagined the Two Trees. They will need transplanting very quickly as they grow for they are starting out far too close (ooo, how picky) and they will soon be of such dimensions that they would grwo into one another.
2) (And this actually isn't a detriment) I'm surprised by the appearance of Yavanna. Not displeased. Just surprised. It is almost as if the painting was not meant to be Yavanna and the Two Trees, but is simply "applicable". Beautifully applicable.

This picture is beautiful beyond words! I just love it. It's from the Sil right... the two trees or something like that? I've forgotten, think I should read it all over again. Anyway I love the picture of the trees, it really reflects the two trees of Valinor. I just love everything about the picture, excluding the two Valar. I have always pictured them to be well... not much resembles that of a human and that they glow with a beautiful great light and well more... majestic, powerful, dreadful (as in they make you fall on you knees after getting a glimpse of them)? Anyway other than that this is a great picture!

Absolutely gorgeous depiction of one of the most magical moments in all of Tolkien's universe...I get the same wonderful shivery feeling looking at it as I do reading the Silmarillion.

Absolutely Beautiful!!!!!
I LOVE the way you portray Laurelin and Telperion.
The Light, the the leaves, the night.... Even the Valier.
Touching...

This is a beautiful piece of art! The lighting of the trees is even more breathtaking than I had originally imagined it to be when I read the Silmarillion. Keep up the good work; I hope to see more of your work.

I must admit i rather like that. What is it meant to be? My guess is the shamanic looking guy taught Yaana how to grow plants when making the trees of light

Only, the Valar don't look Valar-ish enough. The tree is the best part.

It would be perfect, except, in my mind the Valar should be more majestic and less human (especially humans resembling the Native Americans),
but honestly everything else is perfect

I am guessing that the two Valar are Yavanna and Aule. I can sort of guess that he is, because he looks kind of like a dwarf.

Not how I personally picture Yavanna and Nienna, but it works. (Heck, the Valar can take on any form they choose.)

All of your works I've seen here are fantastic, but this one is particularly beautiful. You've captured the "birth" of the Two Trees perfectly!
