Please, please tell me this isn't true. I'm pretty new to the internet and I'm not sure if this is a suggstion only or whether its already in the movie. Treebeard is not a funny cartoon charachter - this isn't Disney - this is, or shoud be Tolkien. I can not imagine such charachters being the destroyers of Isengard

As someone said "ITS WEED MAN!" Yeah, he does look like some sort of stupid dandelion man. He's a weed that was fed radioactive fertilizer and is now terrorizing the shire! I think this is really strange and totally diff from the way I saw Treebeard, In this he doesn't even look like a tree, ents are supposed to disguise themselves as trees and just stand there but if I saw that in a park I think I'd look twice. You guys are all retards, how the hell do you know what "treebeard" looks like is he your frickin' next door neighbor, just because he is vaguely described in the book a little differently doesn't mean this couldn't be what he looks like! I give it a 4 just for the artistic ability alone i would like to see anyone of you draw one even as close to as good as this, and just because he is treebeard doesn't mean you make "stickmen"!!!

When they painted this, Greg and Tim Hildebrant were the ony two people that agreed (forgive my spelling) on what Treebread looked like, and that's saying alot! Also I am a Hildebrant fan so I give it a 5.

as a few people have mentioned before (why am i saying it again then? who knows!) ...this is artworkd from the 70s! it has nothing to do with the Peter Jackson renditions in the movies. Also, it seems that a lot of people come to this site assuming that evgerything here has to do with PJ's movies.NEWS FLASH: a majority of the material here has NOTHING to do with the modern movie versions. See, a while back there was a man named Tolkien, and he wrote books about Middle-earth! Yes, that's where PJ got the idea! oh no! wake up folks...

I loved that calendar. That was when I first fell in love w/ Tolkein.... that first blush....
Now I feel old.
But someone finally make a LOTR movie that looks the way I imagined it. I never thought it would be possible...

There's something about this version of Treebeard that's kinda freaky and creepy, yet, there's also something rather warm and friendly about him. You know, sort of like big, hairy Ludo from the fantasy movie "Labryinth, with Jennifer Conelly and David Bowie. Ludo was a big monster that was freaky-looking on the outside, but sweet and gentle on the inside. This Treebeard sorta follows that image--freaky, but gentle. It's not particularly one of my favorite Hildebrant pictures, but it's still good nonetheless!

Actually, that... thing looks like a cartoon.
I'm afraid to rate it, though, cuz I know it's rather difficult to draw Ents. Maybe it's cuz they're all vastly variegated - which is what J.R.R. said in his trilogy when describing the Ents.

Treebeard is not a funny cartoon charachter - this isn't Disney - this is, or shoud be Tolkien. I can not imagine such charachters being the destroyers of Isengard

Nice job, but I pictured treebeard to be wider and his beard went down to his chest. Treebeard looked like a gaint boulder, I know he's a tree but not a skiny one.

As someone said "ITS WEED MAN!" Yeah, he does look like some sort of stupid dandelion man. He's a weed that was fed radioactive fertilizer and is now terrorizing the shire! Ew...Its good..but just so disturbing! Its just really scary. Don't worry everyone, It IS treebeard... just in a very wierd, twisted sort of way...

I think this is really strange and totally diff from the way I saw Treebeard, In this he doesn't even look like a tree, ents are supposed to disguise themselves as trees and just stand there but if I saw that in a park I think I'd look twice. This is just my point of view but I thought he looked a bit more like Hagrid in the Harry Potter movie only more.........tree-ish. But the rest of the picture is O-K but hes also a little too big.

This is a good painting with good use of color for the scene, but Treebeard doesn't look like a tree at all. He looks more like a man wearing a long beard.

You guys are all retards, how the hell do you know what "treebeard" looks like is he your frickin' next door neighbor, just because he is vaguely described in the book a little differently doesn't mean this couldn't be what he looks like! I give it a 4 just for the artistic ability alone i would like to see anyone of you draw one even as close to as good as this, and just because he is treebeard doesn't mean you make "stickmen"!!!

It's alright, I mean, the hobbits are good, but Treebeard isn't supposed to look like that is he? Well everyone has a different picture of him in their heads, and this was the artist's.

When they painted this, Greg and Tim Hildebrant were the ony two people that agreed (forgive my spelling) on what Treebread looked like, and that's saying alot! Also I am a Hildebrant fan so I give it a 5.

as a few people have mentioned before (why am i saying it again then? who knows!) ...this is artworkd from the 70s! it has nothing to do with the Peter Jackson renditions in the movies. Also, it seems that a lot of people come to this site assuming that evgerything here has to do with PJ's movies.NEWS FLASH: a majority of the material here has NOTHING to do with the modern movie versions. See, a while back there was a man named Tolkien, and he wrote books about Middle-earth! Yes, that's where PJ got the idea! oh no! wake up folks...

I loved that calendar. That was when I first fell in love w/ Tolkein.... that first blush....
Now I feel old.
But someone finally make a LOTR movie that looks the way I imagined it. I never thought it would be possible...

There's something about this version of Treebeard that's kinda freaky and creepy, yet, there's also something rather warm and friendly about him. You know, sort of like big, hairy Ludo from the fantasy movie "Labryinth, with Jennifer Conelly and David Bowie. Ludo was a big monster that was freaky-looking on the outside, but sweet and gentle on the inside. This Treebeard sorta follows that image--freaky, but gentle. It's not particularly one of my favorite Hildebrant pictures, but it's still good nonetheless!

Actually, that... thing looks like a cartoon.
I'm afraid to rate it, though, cuz I know it's rather difficult to draw Ents. Maybe it's cuz they're all vastly variegated - which is what J.R.R. said in his trilogy when describing the Ents.
